Question a Credit Card you can use to pay your rent

I do hope folks who have lived in "their own home"(The bank/lender owns "your home" until you have made the last mortgage payment)  for over 5 years saw through the ruse being spread around by the 31 year old man who attended Wharton School in Pennsylvania(He did not mention whether he had graduated so we can assume he probably didn't)  Ankur Jain stops short of saying that renting a dwelling is stupid while peddling a credit card that will give you cash back and rewards on most people's largest expense which is their rent.  Mr Jain does not mention the enormous cost of property tax, homeowner's insurance, HOA costs and the inevitable repairs and maintenance that can transform the American Dream into the American Nightmare! Ankur is fatuous enough to conclude that paying a landlord is the same thing at "throwing away your money".   Any discerning reader should be able to see falsehoods are being disseminated to benefit Jain and NOT to help tho...

Tricky terms/language for this Balance Transfer Credit Card

I am very confused about the Capitol One Quicksilver 18 month 0% APR Balance Transfer offer. The exact language/terms of the Credit Card Balance transfer is as  follows: 0% for 18 months beginning with the first transfer associated with this offer. After that, you will be charged the APR for Purchases, currently 17.99% variable. Does this mean that any charge/purchase on the 1.5% cash back credit card will incur 17.99% APR immediately OR after 18 months!!!!!???!  Until I get a clear answer from a Capitol One Quicksilver customer service representative, that shiny care will collect dust or get cut up.  Any reviews or commentary would be welcome.

Are NO Fee Balance Transfer Credit Cards a thing of the past?

Just read Joe Resendiz financial whiz article about Best Credit Cards with No Balance Transfer Fee. I checked each one of them including the Edward Jones World Master Card and Alliant. NONE OF THEM had a zero Balance Transfer Fee.  Was surprised at the disinformation and the lack of due diligence and substantive research practiced by a guy who normally prides himself in being a reliable financial services writer.  Lending Tree and Value Penquin need to vet their human resources better in a time were many are experiencing hardship, depression and suicidal ideation.

Interest rate fluctuations online banks

A few months Capital One Bank sent us a promotional offer promising they would deposit $450 in our 360 account approximately three months after we deposited $55,000 of new money in the account always maintaining a balance that exceeds 50 K. At the time the interest rate or APR was 1%. The rate has since fallen to 0.6% without any notice from the online bank. At least Amex will notify you they are lowering their rates which are prevailing at 1 per cent(almost twice the earnings rate of Capital One) after being as high as 2.1% pre COVID. If this continues we will just transfer the 55 Grand back to Amex. The Cha Ching of 450 dollar longevity bonus will actually probably keep us from that drastic measure.  BTW Hillbilly Jose Medeiros has a beautiful perspective on dealing with Corona virus as a mountain man. Sorry sooo off topic!!

Another Slacker Boyfriend taking advantage of Girlfriend

I empathized with sexy Julianne Busch who appeared on the wildly popular court TV show starring the supercilious, haughty, midget female judge. Miss Busch had financially supported the lowlife that she had chosen as some sort of interim mate.  Mr Castaneda, probably a bisexual based partially on the ostentatious earring he donned, legally exploited Julianne making sure all the vehicle financing information was in her name while he enjoyed full usage of the car.  Miss Busch eloquently argued that her indolent live-in boyfriend was morally obligated to share some of the monetary responsibility for vehicle financed in Julianne's name. Magistrate Sheindlin ruled against her. Her unaccountable, immoral boyfriend took advantage of the well known moral-legal dichotomy financially victimizing his hard working girl friend.

Financial Boost is BS

Many American consumers are angry about the entire concept of a 3 digit credit score controlling the quality of their life. Interest rates on loans, employment checks, rates on insurance policies all depend on high or good your credit score. Enter a major player and financial terrorist Experian who now produces or calculates an INACCURATE credit score in return for their corporate profitability. They are exploiting the financial illiteracy of the typical ignorant US citizen with their latest gimmick named Experian Boost.  A credit score is base in order on  How many late credit card, mortgage or other type of loan payments you have.(No late payments is obviously the goal here) The percentage of all your credit limits that you actually use/charge. This is called credit utilization in the finance industry.  Number of new accounts(too many is considered desperate) Number of inquires(hard or soft) for new lines of credits. This means potential lenders checking up on your fin...

Financiers and Drunk Indians

Image
Dear Clarence O'Berry, I read online that you are an entrepreneur who builds businesses and an investor in diverse business and business initiatives.  You also like to pushes boundaries. By that do you mean sending official looking snail mail with FAKE CHECKS ($35,000 see below pic) that are really nothing more than high interest rate loans designed to bankrupt anyone foolish enough to fall for your ploy? Is this what you mean by innovative thinking? I guess so if that means financially exploiting alcoholic native Americans who have maxed out all their credit cards and cannot even qualify for a payday loan since they don't earn a paycheck to back a loan that has around a 400% annual interest rate. There is a place for your "geographic footprint" where the sun don't shine too brightly Mr O'Berry. I would expect the Chief Marketing Officer of Lyle Advisors to be more "innovative and creative" than mass mailing FAKE CHECKS(Document has a color...

Higher Interest Rate online Banking Promise accompanied by MAJOR HEADACHES!!!

Has anybody else been going through a lot of inconvenience and hassle with Citi Accelerate Savings Account? They originally advertised a waive of the $4.50 monthly fee if account holders maintained a balance of $500. Then once we opened the account, they said that we had to do direct deposits of our paycheck in order to not pay any fees!! This was an egregious lie on their part and we spent over 4 hours on the phone and also that cheap piece of crap messaging app where you are talking to a bot and then they finally hook you up with an Asian call center who can't really help you!!! Then they want you to fill out customer satisfaction survey after no service was rendered!!!!!! It gets worse....when we signed up, the APR was 1.85%. Now it has plummeted to 1.6% AND Amex Bank High Yield Personal Savings is still holding steady at 1.7% with much better customer support and an easy and reliable money that will transfer any amount of money in less than 48 hours. We got lured in by a ...

Medical Professional Melancholy

I could sense the burnout my doctor was experiencing as he went over the results of my blood work during our last visit. He honestly admits to his patients that insurance companies pretty much dictate the words that come out of his mouth regarding potential treatments and medications. He can not help his patients the way he wants to. Blue Cross Blue Shield only pays for Triglyceride test every other 3 month visit for example. So a previous visit to my overworked and slightly depressed physician revealed a 175 Triglyceride level which is a little high, but the new blood panel did not even include a new Triglyceride level reading. This means after waiting 3 months to see if my dietary changes had helped, I have wait another 3 months!!!! The doctor did not inform me that the Tri reading was not on the printout. I only discovered this after I went home and noticed it was missing. I called doctor's office and, of course, could not speak with him when his assistant told me of the n...

Juggling Home mortgage processors

We keep getting loan offers based on our current lender's desperate desire to profit from a high interest rate home equity loan. We took out a 4% 30 year mortgage from Pioneer Bank in Hobbs, New Mexico USA around 10 years ago. We never were late on a payment AND they decided to abandon our mortgage, apparently, because we would never apply for a home equity loan from them! We had built up about 40 thousand dollars in equity and they wanted to screw us with a 5% loan for home improvement projects which we DID NOT NEED . We ignored all their snail mail solicitations and they abruptly DROPPED OUR loan by transferring it to Lakeview Loan Servicing, LLC. This outfit was in Pennsylvania.....maybe Philadelphia also located in the United States of America. They did not make it easy for us to transfer from the bank in Hobbs, but when we finally figured it out, then the blood suckers started sending us the same home equity loan offers as Pioneer Bank had done. We did not take the bait ...

Beware of flowery Real Estate Ads

Image
We always enjoy our thanksgiving trip to Roswell,NM. Reading the local newspaper is always a special treat. We were intrigued by a couple of real estate ads in the classifieds. There was an advertisement for a charming home and a beautiful spacious home. Adjectives like charming and spacious are code in real estate parlance for hidden electrical and plumbing problems. Not always, but often these hollow advertising terms are deceptive because they really say nothing positive about the house that is for sale. The charming house on 313 east Poe does not accept HUD renters. I would carefully check the plumbing as once we rented a home on Evergreen there for $900 per month and the friggin shower had no water pressure. The slum lords, I mean landlords insisted we still pay the full rent even though we could not shower on those brutally cold winter mornings in Roswell. Eric and Luis are trying to rent a beautiful spacious home in the Briar Ridge area without divulging what he want...
