Inaccurate Language in Toyota Safety Recall Notice
We have a 2003 Toyota Corolla with a potentially defective passenger side airbag based on notice we received in the mail. However, the wording of the notice is ambiguous if not just wrong, to wit: The front passenger airbag is not designed to deploy unless there is an occupant in the front passenger seat (some objects could also cause it to be in a status ready for deployment). Therefore the risks associated with this condition do not exist if the seat is empty.
Whoa!.... Hold your horses, didn't it state that non-human objects in passenger seat could possibly lead to inadvertent deployment of air bags? And didn't it follow by declaring the risks do not exist if seat is empty? Which is it already!??
One does not have to be a logician to notice the inconsistency of the two statements.

Seems to me that if you have a heavy object in passenger seat, you have something to worry about.
