Convenience Store Shooting NOT a reason to Disarm Americans

Most certainly nobody can blame a grieving father for his perception of what caused his son's death. I know I play the blame game for much lesser grievances such as blaming my daughter's teacher for her failing grades, etc.

However Richard Martinez blaming the NRA for his son's death in Santa Barbara, California is like blaming a baseball bat manufacturer for a beating death. His son Christopher Martinez was one of those killed in the rampage that claimed seven in the Isla Vista area near UCSB on Friday night. Dad exclaimed "When will this insanity stop? When will enough people say, 'Stop this madness!' Too many have died. We should say to ourselves, 'Not one more!'".

I teared up when I read this quote. It is impossible to understand a parent's grief after they have lost a child in such a senseless way, but I still don't believe it is right to disarm the entire citizenry when 99.99% of the population is safe when shopping for groceries or taking vacations. What happened in Santa Barbara occurs extremely infrequently. The shooting at the Deli Mart was not the fault of craven politicians.

All one has to do to know why the shooting happened is to view the video of the killer Elliot Rodger. Rodger was mad and upset that he was not noticed by all the popular girls whose attention he so desperately needed and craved. Elliot spoke of his revenge against humanity(he really only meant he was enraged at the various girls who would not not go out with him). He was apparently an OK kid until he hit puberty according to the video. He was even pissed off at the lucky guys who were having sex with the girls he liked. His wretched, miserable state of mine is to blame NOT NRA policies.

Guns helped Rodger to mass murder at this convenience store, but it was his depraved and warped mind that was the cause NOT the fact that gun ownership is legal in the United States. We can not take the guns out of the hands of citizens who have the right to protect themselves against home invasions, rape, robbery, rape, etc.
