HAZMAT Truck Crash between Edgewood and Moriarty New Mexico

We were headed back to Amarillo TX following a grueling chess tournament where my son did not win a game! So the picture you see below only added  to our existing frustration!

As you can see in the extreme background of pic at Edgewood exit 187 on interstate 40, a city ambulance or firetruck is blocking I40 forcing everybody to take detour to Moriarty. The Swift truck driver could not be happy about the delay as well as couple from Missouri in the white Ford Escape purchased at Lutesville in Marble Hill.

The cause of this extremely inconvenient turn of events was a commercial truck overturned spilling HazMat all over the freeway leading to a lengthy delay for irate motorists. So what does HazMat stand for?  HAZMAT is an abbreviation for “hazardous materials” which are things that could cause a reasonable risk to health, property, or the environment. Examples of HAZMATs include toxic chemicals, fuels, nuclear waste products, and biological, chemical, and radiological agents.

So what was causing the burdensome delay was not a routine gravel spill or an accident that could be pushed off the road. It was gonna take forever, so we just pulled into the Pizza Barn and killed time there.

We could not find any account of the disaster at NMDOT website.....ALL this for a few chess games where junior never WON.
