Dangerous Street Parking in an otherwise Nice Neighborhood

The message of the article written by South Carolinian Clif Leblanc resonated as we exited the upscale Sorrento Subdivision in Roswell, New Mexico looking to purchase a French Brothers built home. The Columbia native wrote of the perils and dangers associated with irresponsible street parking of vehicles.
The two vehicles, you see in the picture parked across from 1200 Sorrento Drive,  partially block the only entrance to the subdivision filled will homes priced in the 250K to 450K price range. Motorist entering traveling southbound on Union are at risk of  hitting the thoughtlessly and carelessly parked pair of automobiles. Also drivers exiting are blinded  and have no room to safely view oncoming traffic!

So we have at least 4 idiots involved in this lunacy. The two drivers of the cars and the husband and wife who live in the house visited by their ignorant friends.

Joanne Fineberg describes this type of traffic hazard parking as a persistent problem in Columbia and notes that it is illegal in some places and violates the rules and regulations of many HOAs around the country.

A simple rule of thumb, for ignorant and insensitive drivers in Roswell or anywhere, is to NOT PARK IN WAY  THAT FORCES OTHER MOTORISTS INTO ONCOMING LANES. We called Alamogordo home builders about this and they shared reluctantly that this type of dangerous parking is forbidden, but apparently not enforced,  in their Covenants, Conditions & Restrictions or CC&Rs.

So the upshot: We  decided to look elsewhere for our dream home even though there were a couple of Berkshire Hathaway and Re/Max listed homes we liked. Enforce the CC&R or risk a decline in property value!!
