Let Technology call Balls and Strikes in MLB games

Major League Baseball has a reputation, among some of the uninformed, for being too long which leads to boredom. The Home Plate umpire, Chris Segal, in the Indian/Astro game on July 31, 2019, perpetuates that reputation.

Urquidy, who is a strike zone placement specialist, was getting squeezed hard by HP umpire most of the night. Segal's strike zone was the size of thimble according to a Cleveland Radio commentator( Tom Hamilton and Jim Rosenhaus) who stated the final score of the game would be 10-9 if Segal called a "in the black pitch NOT a strike" type of game! He was not far from the truth in a game where the Stros lost 10-4.

BTW, I love the aggressively critical comments of the radio guys who see to have more liberty to denounce a poorly officiated game.

  1. I disagree with Dan Buffa who does not seem to recognize that his Saint Louis Cardinals did lose because of a very inconsistent strike zone. We know Segal has great eyesight, is a young man. The problem is more his own personal philosophy regarding make-up calls.

Dan believes that throwing errors should never happen which disqualifies him as an objective, rational MLB commentator(Perhaps Mr Buffa plays too many baseball video games where throwing errors don't happen ). The way he excoriated Tommy Pham was ludicrous and unbecoming of a professional!!
