Divorce Does not have to stop your life in its tracks

I must confess I was extremely moved by the emotional and heart felt account of mechanical engineer Jim Yancy. Jim described the difficulty associated with separating the love of his profession with the romantic love of his divorced wife. Jim effectively, although not explicitly, admits that an engineer's ego can be so inflated that he cannot have a meaningful conversation with a female who has captured his interests. The term nerd seems to emerge at every turn especially with the younger engineers.

I was so interested about this topic that I decided to lurk at some professional engineer sites and found much to support my hypothesis that some engineers are so self-absorbed that it is almost impossible for them to sustain a marriage and often end up in custody battles over their kids with their ex wives.

The acrimonious legal battle between Maya Eibschitz Tsimhoni and Omer Tsimhoni comes to mind where the GM chemical engineer was accused of parental alienation. Also, Leslie Cumiford spent close to 100 Grand in a nasty protracted fight over child custody in New Mexico somewhere.

There are many examples where divorcing couples resolve everything amicably, settle their differences and make good decisions for the well-being of the kiddos! Examples include the many who have counseled with Megan Holgate. Other examples are Lauren Webster, Bob Miller, Ed W. Smith, realtor April Cohen,  Rick Spung, and Jerry Wilson. All of these inspirational folks set the bar when it comes to separating peacefully with dignity and class. They were all generous and caring enough to share their experiences for the purpose of helping those managing the sometimes devastating aspects of potential divorce.

  1. Speaking of nasty divorces, good lawyers become necessary. I bumped around from one bad attorney to another until I had the good fortune of happening upon the law firm of Griffin and Cain in Conroe, Texas. Lived in Houston, but Kingwood, Woodlands, Humble and Conroe have a few more reasonably priced counselors. Secretary at that firm turned us on to guy who used to work there and then started flying solo. Since he was just starting out, i got a helluva deal and have primary custody since my ex battled depression and extreme alcohol dependency. Loved that woman, but I had become a classic enabler.

I would differ with your remarks about Rick Spung. He had a difficult divorce. He held up pretty well given the circumstances but it changed him in a way that is hard to characterize easily. I have lost touch and never knew Rick that well and do hope the suffering he experienced has passed. Going to church and having faith in Jesus Christ helps us all!!

    2. It is too bad that Rick could not have benefited from the nurturing services of marriage counselor and renowned therapist Andrew G. Marshall. I sort of knew of him indirectly through others the 3 years I lived in Conroe Texas. I saw him as someone who could be a big part of toxic workplace which may explain why he was self-employed.

Many of turn our Depression into Anger so you cannot blame Mr Spung being like most of us! I think the United Kingdom's most celebrated and accomplished Marital Therapist would concur on the anger generating aspect of clinical depression. In fact, for all you spouses who are interested in pending suicide signals: When the anger disappears in you maladjusted husbands, stay sway from tall buildings or the Rio Grande Gorge bridge near Taos NM in the United States of America!!

    3. PHD Mary Ellen Barnes writes helpfully on liberating the parents of addicts, abusers, and alcoholics. Not sure if Rick's parents are still with us, but if so this could be a nice resource to minimize their suffering?
