My Progeny is Great

It took me a moment to understand why the late George Carlin's name popped into my head when I saw this "My Child is Great" bumper sticker on a California Honda Pilot SUV bought at AutoWest.Com.

The acerbic late comedian had contempt for parents who announced to uncaring motorists how great Junior was  doing in school.  This particular blue bumper sticker, seen in the picture below, stated proud parent of a San Miguel School  citizen of the month. No surprise there was an accompanying Baby on Board sticker. So owner of vehicle with plate number 6ymc730 also want nearby drivers to be a little more careful driving near their bundle of joy.

Notice that the kid was given an award for being a model citizen NOT an exemplary student. Probably another school where over half the student body gets some type of trophy or recognition. Attention School Principal: Change the award to every week if you wish to dilute their value even more! 

Somebody posting at Yeshiva World said the excessive number of these annoying proud parent stickers is more about advertising for the school. Artist Lynn MacDonald also does not get why parents want to brag so publicly about their average offspring. Lynn's art is far too nebulous for my tastes, but I agree with here assessment that these type of parents are insecure about their parenting skills.

The Clerk has your Gasoline Receipt

How many times on a cold or rainy day have you gotten the following message at the gas pump indicating you have to enter the convenience store in order to pick up your receipt for gasoline purchase? The last thing anybody wants to see from a credit card purchase gas pump is a message stating that the clerk has the receipt! On this particular day, I was already late to pick up our daughter from day care and did not have time to walk into AllSups to pick up receipt from the convenience store attendant. Did I say CONVENIENCE store!? I think many roadside convenience stores intentionally do not reload the receipt paper rolls in order to force customers into their establishment. Once inside, customer may buy a lottery ticket, cigarettes, beer, condom, etc. Many patrons need the gas receipts either to be reimbursed by their employer or for their IRS tax itemization. Gas stations doing this are in violation of some law. Not many of have the time to file a lawsuit against gas

Homeowner's Tree dangerously Blocking Stop Sign

 As I far as I know code enforcement has contacted the female you see in the picture below regarding a huge front yard tree that is blocking a stop sign at a busy four way intersection.  She would be in violation of laws dealing with obstructing traffic signs in any other city. She resides at 113 West Deming Zip code 88203 in Roswell New Mexico. You can see how dangerous her uncut and untrimmed huge tree is at the corner of South Richardson and Deming in the picture below. I am sure she has received a lot of stimulus money as well as unemployment payments from Uncle Sam so I know she has the cash to cover the costs of cutting the hazardous tree down to size!! I worked for code enforcement in Midland Texas and they would have warned this homeowner once and the then fined her for neglect and threatening the general welfare of the public.
