Medical Professional Melancholy

I could sense the burnout my doctor was experiencing as he went over the results of my blood work during our last visit. He honestly admits to his patients that insurance companies pretty much dictate the words that come out of his mouth regarding potential treatments and medications. He can not help his patients the way he wants to.

Blue Cross Blue Shield only pays for Triglyceride test every other 3 month visit for example. So a previous visit to my overworked and slightly depressed physician revealed a 175 Triglyceride level which is a little high, but the new blood panel did not even include a new Triglyceride level reading. This means after waiting 3 months to see if my dietary changes had helped, I have wait another 3 months!!!!

The doctor did not inform me that the Tri reading was not on the printout. I only discovered this after I went home and noticed it was missing. I called doctor's office and, of course, could not speak with him when his assistant told me of the nefarious practices of the blood sucking insurance companies.

This was all for a 15 minute visit for which Doc billed the insurance company $405! I paid $175 for the following statement by the doctor: "Your numbers look OK" No comment about once high Uric Acid levels or an improved A1C of 5.7 which avoids a diabetes diagnosis.

The World Health Organization(WHO) recently conducted study which revealed that once passionate caregivers such as nurses and doctors are more prone to burnout and clinical depression because of the fast paced, insurance driven pressure they experience hourly! This critical group have higher suicide rates than the general population!!

Insurance companies ripoff everybody but their shareholders. We go to Mexico every summer for our medical care and then itemize with BCBS. We will NOT retire in USA because of the literal death grip insurance companies have on doctors and our nation's stressed out citizens!!!

  1. MD Pamela Wible writes about patient danger with regard to overworked doctors profiling which can lead to erroneous diagnosis.

We trust doctors to honor hippocratic oath and not to label us as drug addicts or deadbeats. As you stated in post, many medical students cheat their asses off!

The Eugene Oregon doctor wrote about Michael Britt who exploited numerous patients.

A doctor Mishkin knew nothing about hereditary angioedema and confused it with the symptoms of asthma!

Also their of been a multitude of "too young" females who were moralized to by doctors who told them they could not get their tubes tied( tubal ligations)

Dentist Dr. Aaron Levitt of Sarasota Advanced Care in Sarasota, Florida has been accused of being overly concerned about his patients gender when filling teeth or doing ill advised root canals. How important is your male or female status when you are in agonizing, intractable pain?! Doc should make the pain go away rather than pontificate regarding his views on sexuality!!

  2. Am writing about the "Debt collecting" side of the medical profession. We are being hounded and harassed by PFC Professional Finance Company based in Greeley Colorado. They call my daughter's work, they text her, they call and text her husband for an amount she DOES NOT OWE!! They managed to get my phone number and harass me constantly and have told my daughter they will garnish her wages if she does not pay!!

HPRA, a radiological company, in Amarillo, Texas turned her mistaken $170 billing over to PFC for debt collection AFTER NEVER SENDING HER A BILL TO BEGIN WITH!!!!!! She called High Plains Radiological Association and they said they had sent her a snail mail bill. THAT DID NOT HAPPEN. They just turned her in to PFC without verifying that the debt was legitimate.

Others in the Carlsbad, Ruidoso, Roswell, Artesia, and Hobbs part of New Mexico have had major complaints and NEGATIVE REVIEWS about PFC and HPRA!!

    Roger Smith reports

Professional finance has attached numerous bills to my credit report which had hurt my credit score. When he contacted them they hung up on me after being very rude and dismissive. Then I sent them a letter with no reply. Called again was told they don’t have to the debt. Now they had me served with a court summons to appear that was blank. I went on and made out the reply with the courts and sent them a copy. But who knows this is a rotten company. The hospital statement does not show the outstanding balances they claim. Can we all join together as parties to a class action lawsuit?

Many have suffered from anxiety and depression during this what appears to be permanent COVID crisis. I bet you have plenty of friends as honest and sincere as you are. Chess as a hobby helps. Stay away from facebook and twitter, exercise and commune with nature and avoid "fake friends" on social media!!
