Risks associated with Orthotics

Was reading recently that United Van Lines published information indicating New Mexico was the top spot to retire. 43% of the moving companies customers chose The Land of Enchantment over Florida at 39% !.

We drove through Roswell because my wife's cousin works there in the summer. We always like driving around in small towns as a change of pace compared to the traffic snarls of the big city.

We happened upon an establishment named Active Life Orthotics & Prosthetics located not too far from a hospital. My daughter reminded us of a piece written by Paul Ingraham which challenged the effectiveness of corrective foot devices. My wife refuses to see an Orthotics professional because she does not trust it to the extent she is willing to limp around!

If we choose to retire in Roswell,NM, then maybe I can convince my better half to go see these medical professionals even though she is afraid of doctors making her condition worse in general!

  1. Phillip Cathey is good dentist. Quiet, not much of a conversationalist, but a guy you can trust for constructive criticism regarding dense excessive tartar at gum line which could lead to horrific cavities.

His female office manager can be rude. She interrupted dental hygienist(graduate of Carrington College I think) RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF MY TEETH CLEANING, exactly at the time I needed a rinse. The office manager did not seem to notice dental assistant was in the MIDDLE OF taking care of a patient!!!!!! She raised her voice and told her she needed her upfront. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!! She kept her head down when I left the dental office. NOT WELL TRAINED IN CUSTOMER RELATIONS!!!!
