The Anatomy of a Grocery Store Advertisement Typo

We love Guacamole and are always on the look out for good deals on the tasty and healthy Avocado fruit. Imagine our surprise when one of the grocery stores in Roswell, New Mexico place an advertisement in the Roswell Daily Record for five good sized Avocados for one dollar. That right, Farmers Market on North Main advertised 5 Large Avocados for the erroneous price of a single United States dollar!

The mistaken ad brought in so many customers that Farmers Country Market management had to post the sign you see next to the Avocados noting the misprint in the RDR. We will never really know if the newspaper actually misprinted or if they were just printing whatever the grocery store staff sent them.

In any event, many headaches could have been avoided if the marketing staff had been familiar with a basic proofreading precept which states have at least two different people double check the figures.

It is easy to ascertain how the advertising error transpired. Five Large Avocados for five dollars is they same as one dollar per Avocado except that one has to purchase five in order to get the deal.

All of this raises the very interesting legal question: Is the grocery store required to sell product at advertised prices even if the erroneous prices are egregiously in favor of the customer?

  1. The Roswell Daily Record newspaper still is advertising five large Avocados for the price of ONE dollar. You are right about having two or three farmers country market grocery store employees proofread all ads submitted to RDR

    1. Financial writer Maryalene LaPonsie mentions a Massachusetts law that excuses businesses for unintentional mistakes they quickly correct.

There is a Roswell NM lawyer named Ragsdale who would take this case if he could prove that the grocery did not take down the advertisement quickly. It might be Guillory, but she is more principled than most attorneys and might not be willing to be retained for what was clearly and honest mistake!

    2. So Luke Ragsdale used to be a reputable lawyer when he partnered with Doug Witt. Dont know if some shit went down between the two cuz started hearing Ragsdale DWI radio ads. Luke seemed to know there was more money in that even if it means to defend slimeballs who run over and kill somebody while they are intoxicated with like their 5th dui conviction on their criminal record.

Karen Rivera seems to love the attorney, because she says every time she needs him he gets her off. Would that be another multiple vehicle wrecking alcoholic?

Tammy Lemacks seems quite attracted to him!
Andrew Andrade claims Loving Luke charged him $4000 and lost the case.

Sarah Harlan believes she was gouged for substandard legal representation. Counselor Ragsdale states she still owes him money. shawnna Spicer was also disappointed with service rendered or lack thereof.

Overall though, Lukes positive reviews outweigh the negative harsh criticisms. The barrister should consider NMMI's perceived mismanagement of the positive COVID cases not reported there. Brother IN LAW works there and says there are issues, but others say the superintendent is doing outstanding job!!!

  2. Have any you had problems, issues, or negative review of a checker named Irene who works there? We could not find the name of the store manager on the north side of town. We did find the name of the produce manager and the pharmacist.
