The Mexican Food Place with Big Fish on the Wall
How many of you grew up in Odessa Texas back in 60?. Yep Mojo Land, the meteor crater which 5% of the oilfield worker population is aware of, AND Manuel's Mexican food over on 2nd street with the cliff ocean view of giant Marlin jumping out of the ocean water with a diver half way down plummeting toward the water surface.
When dad was home from work early and Mom didn't feel like cooking, that is where our family dined! Friendly and attractive waitresses who did not mind my weak attempts at speaking Spanish thanks to Nimitz Junior School teacher named Hawkins. She was a good bowler that we would see at Busby bowling lanes occasionally.
I wanted bus boy Bill Cameron to know I remember him. He seemed like a grown man to me at the time, but he probably was a High School kid earning some extra money to spend in college where he said he was going to study engineering. Me and my little brother liked him because he was respectful and did not treat us like kids. Yes Mr Cameron, those refried beans are still the most delectable menu entry and I miss the place very much as we live too far away to make it over except during Xmas some years.
